I don't know what it takes to write a book, and it might not even be something that I want to tackle. I thought about what I would want to write about, if I were to take on the challenge, and I think it needs to be something that I want to find out about. So, I decided to do some research into my parents lives before they met, when they met, etc. I came to this idea after I thought about the possibility that my memory of them would be forgotten, since I don't have brothers or sisters to help me remember things, and because I don't really have anyone to pass on the information to. I'm guessing it won't ever be published, or even finished for that matter, but if it helps me get to know my mom better and find out more about my dad, then it will be a success. It will take a lot of work to get the info. That will be my first step. Gathering information. Here is a sample of what I came up with the other night:
I guess it started in Union, Alabama and Bloomfield, New Jersey. My parents, born Betty Katherine Stoudenmire, and Joseph Geier Jr., were together for 20 years. From my perspective it seemed to be far less than that for them. They loved each other and it was because of this love that I get to even write these words now. It would be selfish to believe that all things that happened in my parent’s lives led up to me, and of course that’s not what this is about. This is about the love they shared, and the things they left, and took.
We'll see how it goes from here...
